It was a thriller in Bukhara where Morocco held their nerves just long enough to sink Iran and book their quarter-final against Brazil.
Morocco were in complete control in the first half and produced a spectacular effort to score four brilliant goals. They were leading by 4-1 at half time. The enchanting moves and coordination of Soufian Charraoui and Soufiane El Mesrar was a treat to watch. The Asian Champions didn’t have any answers to their attacking moves.
Iran did make a comeback early in the second half, courtesy of brilliant skills displayed by Hossein Tayebi and Moslem Oladghobad. However, they could only pull two more back and the game ended with 4-3 on the score sheet in favor of Morocco. They could have equalized had their double penalty not hit the post. It was the last kick of the match and shattered Iran’s dreams there.
Morocco will now face Brazil in the quarter-final on Sunday, 29th September at the Bukhara Universal Sports Complex in Bukhara.
