Spanish Futsal Coach Heaps Praise On Morocco Futsal Team Ahead Of The Friendlies In Rabat
Fede Vidal, the coach for Spain national futsal team, has lauded Morocco for their growth in recent years.
The Spanish Futsal team is in Rabat for two friendly matches against Morocco, as they prepare for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 in Uzbekistan next month.
Talking to the press in the pre-match for the first friendly fixture, Fede Vidal said, “Morocco is a team that is growing a lot, it has had very good results in recent years against great rivals.”
“We know it and that is why we precisely want this type of match to learn a little more about Morocco and to know firsthand how difficult this World Cup is going to be,” he added.
According to a recent announcement from the Moroccan Football Federation, Futsal Planet named Morocco as the best futsal team worldwide in 2023. This recognition was the acknowledgement of their outstanding achievements in recent years.
Morocco won 3 CAF Africa Cups, 3 Arab Cups, and reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.
Spain will be playing two friendly matches against Morocco on 12th and 14th of August at 7 pm (GMT +1). This tour will conclude Spain’s preparations for the mega event in Uzbekistan. But they will play yet another friendly in Ferrol, Spain against Hungary on August 22.
Vidal seems pretty satisfied with the progress of his team. He believes the players have done a good job to cope up with the elevated workload and more physical training in the preparatory period ahead of the World Cup next month.
He added, “I’m happy with the results and the players are doing great as they are managing to work on tactics for the World Cup.”
“When we finish the preparations, it will be almost a month before the World Cup begins and we play our first game against Kazakhstan. So, for now, calm, working, and satisfied with the players’ performance and well-being,” Vidal concluded.
Spain are placed in Group D for the mega event and will be playing Kazakhstan, Libya, and New Zealand in the group stage. They will start their World Cup campaign against Kazakhstan on September 15.
