Costa Rica Through to Last 16, Croatia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan Gain Hope
Costa Rica qualified for the Round of 16 at the 2024 Futsal World Cup after defeating Uzbekistan in their last Group A fixture. Croatia, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan are most likely to follow.

In a game that tilted both sides right till the end, Costa Rica snatched victory from the hosts Uzbekistan. Until the 32nd minute, Uzbekistan were leading 3-2 when Diego Chavarria scored the equalizer for Costa Rica. Only 34 seconds later, Minor Cabalceta put them in the lead. Jean Salas stamped victory by scoring their 5th in the 38th minute.
With this dramatic upset victory, Costa Rica made it through to the Round of 16 as the best third-placed team in the group stage. Croatia and Afghanistan are also hopeful of qualifying, as they are the best third-placed teams among others with 3 points and a goal difference of -1 and -2 respectively.
