Do-or-Die in Rabat: Zambia, Algeria and Libya Battle for the Last AFCON Futsal Semifinal Spot Tonight
Tonight, Group A of the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations goes down to the wire. Morocco have already sealed their semifinal spot in style — but behind the Atlas Lions, three teams are locked in a fierce battle for the one remaining ticket to the last four. Here is every scenario that matters before kickoff.
Group A Standings Before Tonight
| Team | Pts | GD | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morocco | 6 | +11 | Qualified |
| Zambia | 3 | -5 | — |
| Libya | 1 | -2 | — |
| Algeria | 1 | -4 | — |
What Each Team Needs Tonight
Zambia: A Draw Is Enough
Zambia hold all the cards. Sitting on three points after their 3-1 win over Libya, the Chipolopolo go through with a win OR a draw against Algeria tonight — their head-to-head victory over Libya means they win any tie on four points against the Mediterraneans. Only a defeat, combined with a Libya win over Morocco, would knock them out.
Algeria: Must Win, Then Wait
It is simple and brutal for Algeria: beat Zambia or go home. A win takes them to four points, but that may still not be enough — if Libya also beat Morocco tonight, the 2-2 head-to-head draw between the sides means goal difference decides it, and Libya’s -2 comfortably beats Algeria’s -4. Algeria need a win, and they probably need it to be a big one.
Libya: Beat the Champions and Hope
Libya face the toughest ask of the night: beat hosts and reigning champions Morocco, who have won both games by a combined 11-0. Even that might not suffice — if Algeria beat Zambia, Libya would need to overturn goal difference as well. The Mediterraneans need a famous win in Rabat and a favour from Zambia.

One night, two matches, one semifinal spot. Strap in — Group A promises fireworks.
