Futsal AFCON 2026: Morocco Thrash Zambia 7-0 to Reach Semifinals

Morocco booked their place in the Futsal AFCON 2026 semifinals with a ruthless 7-0 thrashing of Zambia in Rabat on Wednesday night, keeping their bid for a fourth straight continental title firmly on track.

The hosts were in a different class from the first whistle at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex. Idriss Raiss El Fenni was unplayable, scoring four times — including a first-half hat-trick — as Morocco raced into a 4-0 lead by the break.

Raiss El Fenni opened the floodgates early and had his treble wrapped up before halftime, with Yanis Ahmed Erraddaf adding the fourth to leave Zambia shell-shocked at the interval. There was no let-up after the restart: Raiss El Fenni grabbed his fourth of the night, before Soufian Charraoui and Youssef Jouad struck late on to complete the rout.

Zambia, who had impressed in their 3-1 opening win over Libya, barely had a sniff. The Chipolopolo tried to find a way back into the contest but ran into a Moroccan defence that refused to budge, and their night only got worse as the goals kept coming.

It was a statement performance from Hicham Dguig’s side. After opening their title defence with a 4-0 win over Algeria on Monday, the Atlas Lions have now scored 11 goals without reply in two matches — and with two wins from two, their semifinal spot is already secured.

Raiss El Fenni, wearing the No. 14 shirt, was named Player of the Match by CAF after his four-goal masterclass.

For Zambia, the heavy defeat leaves them on three points with one group game to play. Andrea Cristoforetti’s side face Algeria on Friday in a match that will decide who joins Morocco in the last four — Algeria and Libya played out a 2-2 draw earlier on Wednesday, leaving the group finely poised behind the runaway hosts.

Morocco, meanwhile, round off their Group A campaign against Libya on Friday, already assured of top spot. If they keep playing like this, stopping them from lifting a fourth consecutive Futsal AFCON crown will take something special.
