Portugal announced themselves at the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 with a bang. They made a statement with a massive 10-1 victory over Panama and sent a strong message that they’re here to defend their title.
Portugal’s victory equaled their previous biggest win ever in the Futsal World Cup events. Seleção das Quinas set the arena on fire with their immaculate performance, as Afonso Jesus and Andre Coelho bagged braces. Other goal scorers included Tomas Paco, Kutchy, Bruno Coelho, Erick, Jamie Penaloza, and Pany Varela.
Penaloza opened the scoring for Portugal in the fifth minute of the match and then it was all Portugal throughout the rest of the game. At half-time, they were leading by 8 goals and Panama were yet to open the scoring. Coelho and Pany Varela scored the last two goals for Portugal. Maquensi scored Panama’s only goal in the 35th minute.
Panama will play Morocco in their next game, while Portugal will be up against Tajikistan on Thursday.
