Futsal AFCON 2026: El Mesrar Hat-Trick Fires Morocco to 6-0 Rout of Libya

Morocco are through to the Futsal AFCON 2026 semifinals in style. The hosts wrapped up their Group A campaign with a ruthless 6-0 win over Libya on Friday night at the Sports Palace in Rabat, finishing the group stage with a perfect record: three wins from three, 17 goals scored, and not a single one conceded.

Captain Soufiane El Mesrar was the star of the show, and it barely took him any time to get going. He opened the scoring inside two minutes and doubled the lead five minutes later, before Othmane El-Idrissi made it 3-0 at the break. Morocco were already in complete control, and Libya simply had no answer.

El Mesrar Completes His Hat-Trick After the Break

Four minutes after the restart, El Mesrar grabbed his third of the night to complete a well-deserved hat-trick. El-Idrissi then added his second and Morocco’s fifth, and Bilal Bakkali put the finishing touch on the scoreline with a sixth goal late on.

The win was even more impressive given that Hicham Dguig’s side were without Soufiane Chaaraoui, who picked up an injury in the win over Zambia. Initial medical checks ruled him out of the Libya game, and further tests will decide whether he can return before the tournament ends. It hardly mattered on the night — this Morocco side look like a machine.

What It Means: Semifinal Against the Group B Runner-Up

With 4-0 and 7-0 wins over Algeria and Zambia already in the bag, Morocco finish top of Group A with nine points and a goal difference that tells its own story. They now sit top of the FFIFA futsal rankingsonversation as the team to beat, and the semifinal draw has them facing the runner-up of Group B — either Egypt or Angola, depending on tonight’s decisive clash between the two.

For Libya, it is the end of the road. The former champions bow out with a single point from their 2-2 draw with Algeria, and they will watch the knockouts from home. Morocco, meanwhile, march on — and on this evidence, stopping them will take something special. The semifinal is set for October 19 in Rabat, and the whole country will be expecting a place in the final.
