Futsal AFCON 2026: Egypt Cruise Past Mozambique 4-0 to Seal Semifinal Spot
Egypt booked their place in the semifinals of the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 with a commanding 4-0 victory over Mozambique at the Salle Moulay Abdellah in Rabat on Thursday.
The Pharaohs needed less than ten minutes to take control. Mohamed Talaat opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and Mozambique’s misery deepened a minute later when Mario Gusta turned the ball into his own net to make it 2-0.
Egypt kept their foot on the gas after the break. Alaa Eissa added a third in the 31st minute before Talaat completed his brace in the closing stages to wrap up another ruthless display.
Defensive wall, attacking machine
The numbers tell the story of Egypt’s campaign so far: 12 goals scored, none conceded in two matches, following their 8-0 thrashing of Tanzania in the Group B opener. No team at the tournament has looked as complete.
The three-time champions, who last lifted the continental crown in 2004, are growing into serious title contenders. With Morocco already through from Group A, a heavyweight semifinal lineup is taking shape. New to the sport? Check out our complete beginner’s guide to futsal.
What next
Egypt and Angola — both on six points — meet on Saturday to decide who finishes top of Group B. Mozambique, pointless after two defeats, face Tanzania in a battle to avoid finishing bottom.
