Spain dominated Tajikistan to claim a big win in Dushanbe

Fede Vidal’s men stamped authority over Tajikistan, securing a 9-2 victory in their first friendly match in Dushanbe.

The Spanish Futsal team touring Tajikistan showcased brilliant skill in the first game of the tour against the home side. They bagged an authoritative victory, defeating Tajikistan 9-2 in the first friendly match.

The visitors were in complete control of the game right from the beginning, and the game was mostly played in front of Tajikistan’s goal. However, it took them around seven minutes to open the scoring with a cross from Catela being deflected by Kuziev into the goal.

Tajikistan tried hard to level the score, but first Aliev’s shot on the counter-attack was saved by Jesus Herrero and then it was Didac who denied a clean shot at goal by Rizomov.

Tajikistan’s vigilance and counter-attacking strategy couldn’t stop Spain from further increasing the lead, as Mellado scored in the 14th minute. Only three minutes later, Gordillo capitalized on a loose ball and scored the third goal for Spain, making the lead 3-0.

In the second half, Spain continued to attack and Adolfo scored the fourth goal for the visitors, deflecting Chemi’s shot past the goalkeeper.

Exactly when Spain were looking to run away with it, the home side came up with back-to-back strikes and gave some hope to their fans. First, Khojaev’s pass took a deflection from Catela and went in, and then Rizomov scored the second goal by taking advantage of the foul given on the edge of the penalty area.

Tajikistan’s hopes started fading away once again when Cesar scored the fifth goal for Spain with a powerful strike. Spain continued to dominate as Raul Gomez scored another goal utilizing a long pass from Didac. Soon after, he put yet another one into the goal by deflecting Mellado’s shot at the far post.

As Tajikistan became desperate and employed a flying goalkeeper, Spain scored a couple more. First, it was Antonio who sent the ball in with a 10-metre throw and then Adolfito stole the ball near his own goal and scored with a long-range shot.

Spain will conclude its World Cup preparations with a friendly game against the Netherlands on Saturday. The match in Dushanbe will start at 5 pm Spanish time and 8 pm local time. After this game, the Spanish expedition will head to Andijan, Uzbekistan to take part in the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024.
