Thailand to Host Continental Futsal Championship 2024 Ahead of the Futsal World Cup
The Football Association of Thailand is set to host the 5-nation Continental Futsal Championship 2024 as part of their preparations for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in September.
The 2024 Continental Futsal Championship will be played in Thailand from 31st August to 6th September 2024. The 5-nation tournament is organized by the Thailand Football Association to prepare for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024, which starts on September 14 in Uzbekistan.
The five teams participating in the tournament include Thailand, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Guatemala. Among these, only Kuwait won’t be there at the Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan.
The competition will be of utmost importance for all the participating teams as it will conclude their preparations for the World Cup. Especially, Afghanistan and New Zealand will take this opportunity to finalize their preparations for their first-ever Futsal World Cup appearance.
While the tournament schedule hasn’t been finalized yet, all the matches of the championship will be played at the Nonthaburi Provincial Stadium in Thailand. The venue is located north of Bangkok and offers the capacity to host 4000 spectators.
Thailand are drawn into Group B at the FIFA Futsal World Cup with Brazil, Cuba, and Croatia. They have to play a tough group to qualify for the knockouts and would want to enter the mega event fully prepared. The Continental Championship, only a couple of weeks ahead of the World Cup, will certainly allow them to overcome any shortcomings before they take the big stage.
