Morocco Stuns Spain With a 4-1 Defeat as the Hosts Seek Revenge

Morocco made a strong comeback in the second futsal friendly against Spain, defeating the visitors 4-1 to level the series. Soufian Charraoui was impressive throughout the game with his excellent skills and tactics.

Morocco displayed courage and perseverance, as they rebounded strongly from a 4-2 defeat in the first friendly fixture against Spain in Rabat, beating the visitors 4-1 at the same venue. Anas Dahani, Idriss Raiss El-Fenni, Otmane Boumezou, and Anas El-Ayyane were among the goal scorers for the home side. This win will certainly give Hicham Dguig’s men a lot of confidence ahead of the Futsal World Cup 2024 in September.

Morocco exerted pressure right from the start of the game, but Didac Plana was firm in defense, making two brilliant saves on the shots from Boumezou. Soon after, Spain took the attack to break the deadlock courtesy of Javi Minguez’s thunderbolt strike. While Spain took the lead initially, it proved to be the only goal for them on the day as the momentum tilted completely towards the hosts after that.

Dahani came up with the equalizer, displaying amazing dribbling skills and managing to get the ball over the goal line. Soon after the equalizer, Boumezou scored the second goal for the hosts, giving them the unassailable lead in the game. Soufian Charraoui led the attack this time around and created a wonderful opportunity for Boumezou who didn’t miss out.

El-Fenni scored another goal to consolidate the lead for Morocco. Spain employed the flying goalkeeper in desperation in the dyeing moments of the game, but it allowed Anas El-Ayyane to score from distance and stamp the victory for the home side.

Spain had an emphatic victory in the first game and were the favorites to win the second match as well, but the home team made them look ordinary to level the series 1-1. This victory for Morocco will be a confidence booster for Hicham Dguig’s men ahead of the mega event. It’s also a proof of their rapid progress over the years.

Morocco will be up against Tajikistan to start their Futsal World Cup campaign on 16th September. They’ll also be playing against Panama and Portugal in Group E. Spain will play their first game in the mega event on 15th September against Kazakhstan.
