Futsal AFCON 2026: Morocco Beat Angola 5-2 to Win Record Fourth Straight Title

Rabat erupted late on Wednesday night as Morocco beat Angola 5-2 in the Futsal AFCON 2026 final at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, sealing a record fourth consecutive African crown in front of their home fans.

The Atlas Lions had to work for it. Angola, beaten 5-1 in the 2024 final, came to spoil the party and held firm for most of a tense first half, threatening on the counter while Morocco searched in vain for a way through. Even a 10-metre free kick came to nothing after Angola’s fifth team foul.

How the final was won

The breakthrough finally arrived with four minutes left in the first half, when Othmane El-Idrissi unleashed a powerful strike to send the Rabat crowd wild. Angola hit straight back to level at 1-1, but Youssef Jouad restored Morocco’s lead with a thunderous effort seconds before the break.

Morocco came out flying after the restart. Idriss Raiss El-Fenni grabbed the third, and with seven minutes left Ismail Amazal finished a slick team move to make it 4-1 — the kind of flowing football that makes the fast-paced five-a-side game such a joy to watch. Bilal Bakkali added a fifth before Angola pulled one back late, but the comeback never looked on.

What this title means

Four straight titles — 2016, 2020, 2024 and now 2026 — makes Morocco the outright most successful nation in the competition’s history, moving clear at the top of Africa’s futsal pecking order ahead of Egypt’s three crowns. They did it unbeaten, scoring 28 goals in five matches and conceding just twice, both tonight.

For Angola, a second straight final defeat will sting, but back-to-back final appearances confirm them as one of Africa’s coming forces — their stunning semi-final comeback against Algeria showed the character in this squad. On this night, though, Rabat belonged to Morocco, and the celebrations will go long into the night.
