Ukraine won the 3rd-place play-off against France and secured a thrashing victory to claim the bronze medal. It was their best finish ever in the FIFA Futsal World Cup history.

It was pretty even-steven in the first half and Ukraine were leading 1-0 at half-time, but they changed gears in the second period of play and won the game 7-1.

It was Ihor Cherniavskyi who scored the first goal for Ukraine after playing one-two with Korsun. Early in the second half, Mykhailo Zvarych converted Rostyslav Semenchenko’s cross with a brilliant header to double the advantage.

Ayoub Saadaoui scored in the very next minute to reduce Ukraine’s lead again. However, it didn’t make much difference, as Yevhenni Zhuk scored a quick brace five minutes later to take the lead out of the Frenchmen’s reach.

France acted out of urgency and brought on the flying goalkeeper. However, the decision backfired, allowing Danyil Abakshyn to score a treble by sending the ball into the empty goal from a distance. It proved to be an emphatic win for Ukraine in the end, as they clinched their first bronze in the history of the tournament.
